Mechanical fuel pump

Has any one here used a mechanical fuel pump on their 40?

I am renewing this question as well. Reading where s/n 1103 used a mechanical fuel pump and valve to change the gauge reading only. I also know many of the Roush builds utilized a mechanical pump. For a street drive cruiser, why would this not work and eliminate multiple pumps, etc.? thanks

I just today reinstalled my mechanical fuel pump after replacing timing cover and gasket. I have SPF 2120. It has worked fine on the Roush 427 with carb.
