Mendeola Transaxle

I am wondering if anyone has taken delivery of a mendeola transaxle in the last few years. Im starting to wonder if they are producing or not. If you have used one, please let me know.

Thanks,
Rick

I have the same question as well last month I sent them an email and quickly got a callback saying they had a four month lead time sounded pretty reasonable

Gathering vital parts for a project before starting work in earnest is a good idea. When I was working at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in Green Bank, WV, we always hired college kids for summer jobs. One fellow, Jim, worked in our receiver lab all summer and he started building a very nice hi-fi (before stereo) amplifier design called "Ultralinear". This was an unusual power amplifier circuit that used taps on its output transformer as feedback to the output vacuum tube's screen grids to improve its linearity. Jim worked on this amplifier all summer- building his aluminum chassis, punching holes for tube sockets, buying tubes and passive components as he went along. NRAO was good about allowing people to work on electronic "home projects" as they felt that a technician would gain knowledge and experience from this. Anyway, Jim finished his amplifier and then mail-ordered the necessary special output transformer from Acrosound. The summer was almost over and two weeks later he received an envelope in the mail with a very short note from a law firm. "This firm is in receivership". That was all. Jim never did finish his amplifier; it was a lesson that many of us never forgot.

Has anyone been in touch with Ian or Mike at Mendeola?
I've paid 50% down and been waiting two years now and they won't return my calls or email. Are the still in business or did they fold?

Same boat, but have had a few replies. Last one about 3 months ago.

They sold part of the business to Weddle but kept the SDR5 and maybe the big sequential. At least that's my understanding.

I was down there. It was a bad situation... Mike is not doing honest things, and kept me waiting months after they told me they were going to deliver. I think I only got my transmission because I was there in person... I know there were people who have been waiting years and they're spending the deposits on other things in their lives. Don't do it... Everyone reading this, they're nice people, but don't do it.

So, Tyler, you did get one? How long ago and when did you order?

I met a guy with a GT40 at the Texas Cobra Club rally this past march/april, and he had one, recently obtained, but maybe RCR? He didn't deal directly with Mike.

I did get one...and in all likelihood this is the BEST product for a gt40 build; I'm totally happy. If you're running a V8 with the standard output of the period it's probably the most bullet proof thing. BUT absolutely do not do deposits...buy a used one. For God sakes pay 5k more to cash and carry it...but don't trust any timeframe from Mendeola directly. It screwed me and I had to fly back home and then back down to Cali at great expense while I rented shop space. I like Mike and I like Ian... But what they did to me by changing the time frame was just as good as changing the price last minute, and it was bad business. I don't think they should take orders from people... I think they should just make it first come first served and charge 5K more for their gear boxes, but have people come to California to get them. Mike is old... If he dies or quits nobody gets their gearboxes and you lose your deposit. There's plenty of Google reviews of very pissed off people...
