Need help on identifying chassis manufacturer and version

Hi GT40 enthusiasts,

I recently acquired a GT40 replica which I want to rebuild. For registration it helps if I can provide manufacturer and version of the chassis. There is a VIN number hammered in the chassis, but this refers to the final car builder, not the chassis manufacturer.
Could anyone of you help me on identifying the manufacturer and version of the chassis?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, t seems you have one of the first KVA type A chassis which pas modified in the early days of GTD before They(GTD) made their own chassis
this are (bad ) copies of old article of the propose modification in those days

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. This is really useful. It seems most of the chassis is GTD. The question now is, is this a modified KVA chassis or an early GTD chassis. The remaining chassis of the KVA type A looks slightly different.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards, Bart

I would disagree with the statement that most of this chassis is GTD. Looks way off to me.
Hi Malcolm, thank you for your reply. Could you pinpoint where the differences lie?
My previous post was a KVA type A chassis to show the difference. The front around the windshield looks quite similar on the KVA. Most other models are more boxy.
Main chassis indeed is nowhere close to more recent GTD.

I made a comparison between the photos from Paul's article and my chassis. Besides that some parts are missing, the similarity is striking.

Here are some pics of early and C type KVA chassis so you can compare the centre section to what you have. More pics next as I can only attach 10 per post.
Cheers

Thanks! Seems my chassis has most resemblance with early KVA.
All photos are very interesting as they show different builds and especially reinforcements. Not sure about the torsional stiffness of these builds. I am planning to do some FEM on mine and post later.

If it is early KVA it could perhaps be a South African chassis by KCC…(Kit Car Centre from Johannesburg) They took the KVA and improved some bits along the way. Or perhaps a Botha chassis. Sorry no pictures of the chassis versions as they developed.
