I know I'm not the only one around here with a slot car habit, but this is an FYI for anyone who might be interested in a very well done 1/24 scale Mk II.
One of my favorite slot car brands, BRM, has come out with a line up of 60's/70's icons, and their latest addition is the GT40, specifically in the Mk II version for now. Simply put, they are gorgeous. This one is mine:
They have this and two other liveries currently available.
I have run them in a 24h event on commercial tracks running sponge tires (no glue) and they ran fantastically, and I've run their other cars on the stock, rubber tires which also run well once trued.
If you're not a racer but might appreciate a shelf-sized GT40, they are gorgeous. They won't have the detail of an Exoto model, but you're also not paying Exoto prices either... They do look beautiful on the display shelf though!
BRM also make versions of the P330, 917, and 512 as well.
Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with BRM (they are an Italian company), but Alan Smith is a friend and is BRM's American distributor, and I did help BRM with some of the details to try to get things correct with the models.
If you're interested in any of them, Alan's shop is 132slotcar.us and they are listed HERE. There are versions of all cars currently available, and they are all truly stunning. I do know that more MK II liveries are coming out eventually, and the Mk I is also in the works.
