New GT40 Slot Cars

I know I'm not the only one around here with a slot car habit, but this is an FYI for anyone who might be interested in a very well done 1/24 scale Mk II.

One of my favorite slot car brands, BRM, has come out with a line up of 60's/70's icons, and their latest addition is the GT40, specifically in the Mk II version for now. Simply put, they are gorgeous. This one is mine:

They have this and two other liveries currently available.

I have run them in a 24h event on commercial tracks running sponge tires (no glue) and they ran fantastically, and I've run their other cars on the stock, rubber tires which also run well once trued.

If you're not a racer but might appreciate a shelf-sized GT40, they are gorgeous. They won't have the detail of an Exoto model, but you're also not paying Exoto prices either... They do look beautiful on the display shelf though!

BRM also make versions of the P330, 917, and 512 as well.

Full disclosure: I have no affiliation with BRM (they are an Italian company), but Alan Smith is a friend and is BRM's American distributor, and I did help BRM with some of the details to try to get things correct with the models.

If you're interested in any of them, Alan's shop is 132slotcar.us and they are listed HERE. There are versions of all cars currently available, and they are all truly stunning. I do know that more MK II liveries are coming out eventually, and the Mk I is also in the works.

THANKS for posting that Chris. I myself have over 50 LolaT70Mk3b cars in 1/32 scale. I love slot cars and those look to be some very nice examples.
Perhaps we will need a new subforum if there is enough interest.

Regards Brian

Thanks for sharing Chris,

Wow! Those 1/24 cars are awesome! What are they like to drive?

I have a 1/32 routed track that I’ve been building for many years now, but still work in progress. As soon as I got to the stage when I could race the cars I lost interest in the scenery and landscape

Apologies for the condition of my GT40’s, they race really well & unfortunately bear the scars accordingly .

On the 1/32 side, get yourself some Slot.It GT40's (or Slot.It anything...). They are fantastic.

The BRM's (subject of the thread) on the commercial track we ran for the 24 were spectacular. They were superbly balanced and stable, and we were able to run them very hard. The motors were reliable (they all ran the same motor for the 24h) and there was only 1 gear failure (and it was attributed to a different spec gear).

Set up properly, they are impressive, with the bonus of being equally as impressive just standing still.
