Newbie Introduction

Hi Guyz, I'm Dave, this is my first post and I wanted to introduce myself. I currently am the original owner of a lightly modded Caddy CTS-V Coupe (with 6,000 original miles) that I will soon be selling as I have a deposit on a build spot (2025) for a Superformance GT40 (P2522). My wife and I live in the Detroit area with our two Boxer Canines (our kidz!) and she fully supports me on my quest for my "Bucket List" vehicle . I have always said that it wound take a very nice GT40 to tear my heart from my V Coupe and I'm finally acting on that! Attached are some photos of my "V", the fellow kneeling down is GM's winningest Factory Driver for Cadillac and Lemans class winner, Johnny O'Connell who, apparently, has not seen a Cadillac with Drag Radials! :) Anyway, although I have done a bunch of research on various makes of GT40's, I joined this forum to get first hand information from folks that own GT's (you can never know enough!). I am also open to looking at pre-owned Superformance (and possibly CAV) GT40's if any are currently out there. I hope to make some new friends here and maybe some that are either local to Detroit or close enough that they might consider coming to the largest automotive event in the nation, the Woodward Dream Cruise which is held every August. Take care everybody, Dave.

Welcome to GT40S Dave. Sounds like you have a good plan and are acting on it accordingly. Perhaps you should consider going to the reunion that is planned for this summer.

There will be tons of cars there for you and your wife to check out.
Enjoy the forum !!!
Regards Brian

I am enjoying reading all the different forums on this site and the kind welcome and responses I received from Brian and others. I have noted the postings by ERA owners of Cobras and GT40s. In the early 80's when I was a wet behind the ears 20 something, I completely built (and prepped the body for paint) for #076, an ERA 427 Cobra. I put pin drive Halibrand knock off rims and the correct Ford FE motor with a Top Loader 4sp trans in her and in 1986 took 1'st place in class at the SAAC 11 show that came to Dearborn, MI every 3 years at that time. I have great memories of the almost 3 years it took me to build the Cobra and what a fine product ERA made. While I am SO looking forward to taking delivery of my SPF GT40 in '25, I am very proud that I was able to complete my build of the 427 at that somewhat tender age. I thought some ERA guys here (and maybe others) might be interested in these 2 photos of my Cobra, taken (after some fancy talking on my part to get her onto the estate grounds) on the Edsel & Eleanor Ford Estate in Grosse Pte. Shores, Michigan
