newbie...

Hi all,

Another newbie

Well basic story is that I live in the UK (Surrey, near Redhill), but work in Switzerland (Zurich) and only travel back every 2nd weekend, so fancied a project.... guess what was on the list ;)

yup, GT40 - sorry, but will have to be Gulf styled :D
or a Ford Mustang - Eleanor replica

Already spoken to TrevS as he has a Tornado build (the one I am looking at) and was also a fellow supra owner.

Current car is a 2002 Impreza STi Prodrive. In March it will running 400bhp, loads of suspension mods, braking mods and a rear half cage. General influence was the GT3 RS, with all the scaffolding, etc. Liked the idea of a track focused car, etc. If there are any Subaru fans, heres a good clip:

Well, back on topic.... GT40.... sexy as ****!!! Know basically nothing about doing a build like this and know nothing about the engine/gearbox that needs to go in, but thats half the fun! Looking forward to getting my build started, which should hopefully be around April May of 2011.

Welcome to the group. It's a good bunch of car nuts that always seem to have fun. Like Trevor I'm in the middle of a Tornado build as well. Very happy with the car as well as dealing with Andy at Tornado. Have fun and Merry Christmas.

Hey Graham, your located in an area with probably the biggest concentration of cars anywhere in the world - you should try and call in at one of the evenings we have @ Silvermere (Just off the A3 / M25 Junction) Generally not many cars attending this time of year but quite a few from April onwards.

Now that sounds like a good idea...

Probably about a year and a half ago I saw a rather large gathering of GT40s near a small village called Outwood, just having lunch then leaving 1 by 1, what a sound :)

Graham,

Welcome mate - all the guys on here can probably build a rocketship, so you'll get all the advice you need for your build.

Good Luck,

Graham.

Welcome from another Gt40 owner "just up the road from you"

These are great cars and a fantastic bunch of chaps and chapesses to go along with them.

Ian

Thanks Ian. Hope to join a meet sometime soon to see some of the cars up close.

The good news is that I have not changed my mind and the missus likes the gt40 :)

hi graham, you're just up the road from me. i'm afraid i won't be much use in the "info" dept as i'm still learning. also, building a lo-cost scratch build, i won't make my presence known until you sell something really cheap! welcome to the site:thumbsup:

Thanks

Well I am just deciding on the kit to buy. Tornado in the UK is looking good, but long wait to visit the factory and lots of delivery costs. Or RCR has a supplier in germany which is about 200-250kms from my place in Zurich, which is very appealing.
