FS USA NOS 427 Side oiler/ SK Heads and more

I have had tunnel port complete 427’s also , great engine for pure race and no hood clearance restrictions . I was planning on using this 427 tunnel wedge Lemans combo on my 67 Shelby but they have gone too far up in value so I’m gonna put the original 428 in it.

I use it on my 63 Galaxie, it is a single carburator, but it has a particularity : the side of the engine is drilled to get a better lubrification on the cranck shaft bearings.
I am asking you a photo of the header because I discuss with the owner of a GT40 MKIV at Le Mans Classic equiped with a tunnel port and he told me that the headers were in aluminum and equiped with O'rings on the water port instead of the flat gasket.

I’m pretty sure that Tunnel port was not used at lemans, it was tuned wedge SK heads. They did not make tunnel port in aluminum.
I got my info from Carrol Shelby in the 80’s when I raced with him at Willow Springs
Side oiler blocks are crankshaft priority oiling blocks, ie crankshaft first. Center oilers were external added to maker priority oiling

My engine is a modifed top oiler (see photo), the previous owner told me that the engine came in France, in crate, with the spare parts for Le Mans 67.
Unfortunately, I lost the photos that I made at Le Mans classic in 2022, but the description poster in front of the car in the pit was clearly mentionning the words Tunnel Ports Headers, it is why I discussed with the owner. There was 2 Mark 4 one red, one blue and both were equiped by the same engine.

Jean-Marc,
In your picture of the rear of your engine I noticed that the cam tunnel plug is fitted in a concave position. It should be the other way round for an FE unlike all other Ford V8s. The cam will end will grind against the plug leaving metal fragments in the oil.

Colin, you are perfectly right, the picture was taken when the engine was originally assembled and ... failed a few hours later, not for this reason but for a untight screw on a rod. But this problem of plug was solved too in the same time !

Tunnel ports were absolutely made in aluminum as I have two original Ford sets of them. They were definitely used on GT40s since this is why Ford cast some of these heads in aluminum.
