In which case it may be one of the two built in High Wycombe in the early nineties. It's not normal aluminium tube but, apparently, some sort of trick aluminium which
was only produced for the 917 and , so I was told, the manufacturer went back into a limited production again purely for these two replica frames. I saw them being built in High Wycombe as my GTD was in the same workshop having roll over bars and engine and aircon being fitted at the same time.

Which one? I doubt that many if any of Smokeys engines did not have a 'trick' or two in them. Seriously I expect your talking of the '' Hot Vapour cycle '' principle one.
I have some info on that somewhere if you wanted to check into it further.

Absolutely - that's the one. Did anyone develop it further, or was it binned after he died ? What information do you have ? How about a thread in the paddock ?
