I looked back through the pictures and there were actually a few configurations. The final version had 3/4 solid bar bolted in front of the radiator towards the bottom with 1.5 inch x 1/4 flat stock on the outside bolted through the bar flange and back to the tub for support. The axle strap in the picture had the metal loop cut out of one end and the round bar ran through it. The strap was folded and velcroed in place.
That sounds pretty confusing! I wish I had a better picture. Ultimately I wanted to transfer the pulling stress to the tub. That's what the flat steel was for.
