My father-in-law and I are currently building a GT40 and we've come down to trying to source a transmission. We're dropping in a newer 302 (81+) and are trying to find the best transmission to mate. What are our options. I know the Getrag 50/50's are popular as are the Pantera ZF's, and the BMW M1 ZF (a bullet proof /2), but is there anything more in general availability (i.e. can be sourced from a junkyard without some outrageous premium)?
Also, does anyone have any X-Reference information on what cars had these transmissions in what years?
