Ricardo cables

Are the Ricardo cables just routed down the centre (interior brace) section of the car and not offset? Or can they be offset as your heart desires? I think it's the later, but I don't have them yet and I don't want to make any assumptions that may come back to bite me later on.

Alex;
This might help, a photo of frans mule with the shifter cables attached. Fran made this beacket. The stock bracket can fit under the crossmember but you've got to grind about 3/8" off the top. When i was up in MI they were mounting another shifter on a new SLC. Mark pointed out that he liked to come in form the passenger side of the LS then route the cabel to several inches past the center of the LS on the drivers side. Then the shifter could follow the angle set up by the stock ricardo bracket. did that make sense?
