Shane's SLC Build

Hi everyone! I am excited to start posting progress pictures and asking questions (I have a lot).

Some background on my project. I ordered the car so my 16 year old son and I can build a car together. It is going to be a great project. I have been building street rods and customs my whole life so I do know a little about this stuff. Not an expert but I love cars and especially custom cars.

My personality likes to make them look good as opposed to driving them fast. I am not a race car driver and never want to be. But I love making things look good.

Just for future people who are thinking about ordering one of these. It has not been easy at all. So be patient and realize that communication has been difficult.

Ordered Car on March 15, 2024
CAR ARRIVED MARCH 21, 2025!!! So Excited!

I LOVE the car! Ours is going to be incredible and will be a very positive experience for a 17 year old kid wanting to learn.

I hope to post updates as we go.

Man, this is great Shane! Congratulations and we look forward to watching your build!

Congratulations, my son and I did the same thing, he did a lot of the electrical work , which he loves, he is now an electrical engineering student , we started the build when he was in middle school. we recently took a long trip on the recently completed SLC and went to a car show. A dream come true for both of us. Absolutely priceless. He is currnetly helping me reprogram some things on the AIM electronic dash unit and made a GPS speedometer, traction control management system, compass and temp screen all in one. Excited to see how it turns out.

The journey and the time spent together grinding away in the garage was priceless.

I wish you an awesome journey together as well. I can't think of a better father-son project.

Okay, I need help with the serpentine belt on the LS3. I have the AC brackets on the right and then they sent me the other brackets on the left. Does anyone have a drawing or picture how these are to be mounted? They LS3 came just as the long block with no accessories, etc.

It looks like I need an alternator bracket.
A tensioner for the AC?

This is actually my second go at getting them powder coated. The first guy did some of the parts and the color was so different from part to part I had to redo them. I then took them to Hub Cap Annie's here in Boise Idaho. Nick is the man! He is amazing! You asked how he did it? Well, he takes a lot of pride in what he does. Here is a picture of him working on the black, I think he is sucking off the extra.
