Spigot Bearing and Adaptor

With regards to the spigot bearing and adapter for the Audi box, can someone tell me which end goes into the back of the crank shaft? Does it go in with the bearing inner-most or bearing outer-most?

My guess is that it would be bearing outer-most, but I don't want to find out that I'm wrong when its all too late.

Just a quick note. The old spigot came out a dream when I used the suggestion to hydrolically press it out (as in the RF manual), even though I didn't have a shaft of the correct size. I used a bolt whose diameter was 1mm too small, with race tape to make up the difference! Is there anything that can't be achieved with race tape?

Chris,

The bearing goes to the gearbox. There is a pair of steps at the engine side which are used to get a bearing extractor to extract the bearing itself or both the bearing carrier and bearing (no need for the hydraulic extraction again !!!!)

Any problems give me a call at home. I am here all week end doing collection of "brownie points" thing, Phillip Island next week end and the Grand Prix the following.

Best wishes,

Robert
