Ive been meaning to post these for a while. We were able to take a trip to France last year and visited Lemans. They have a really cool museum at the Circuit De Le Sarthe track. If youre in the area its definately worth a look. For a couple extra Euros you can walk the track which was really cool.

I thought the picture with the floor labeled Ford GT 40 MkII was kinda funny

Hi Sean
Hope you enjoyed watching at those show display cabinets of all model cars "in grid"!!!!!! It have been a work and collect for more than 35 years ......;):)
More than 30/100 of those models have been done in scratch as models or even kits where not advaible at that time !!!
So each one was done with a small" unique" plug , a silicon mold and then polyurethane casting plus paint and bespoke decals
(Including cars I had the so big opportunity and luck to manage and drive !!;))

Actually that was one of my favorite parts. Its amazing how every car was placed in the glass cases as to their finishing positions. I was in awe at how many models there were. Very impressive work!

The biggest work on that project was to find for every car some docs , pics and colors !! Specially for prewar racing car models ... and this was done long before Internet existed so reading Le mans books and browsing onto other collectors library etc etc
You watched at the second way to show all the models ; when my collect and work have moved to the museum years ago show cabinets where
wood made much more simply and more "moveable" because I was used to bring 10 grid each year in dispaly on Press enter ; then ACO and the museum understanding the success in showing those model grids they invested on superb new acrilyc modern display stuff
You have to know that 90 to 95 /100 of those models are kits built up one by one not standard Dye cast finished models ( Except for some modern year grid added by the museum since the son of a kit manufacturer emigrated to China producing limited seres of fully built models with rather good quality )

Mic,

Thank you for letting us know some of the history of these models.

I bet the early days were incredibly hard to find info on the cars for sure.

Regards,

Sean
