UK met for the New Year

If it was you that objected to political posts , avert your eyes. This has political undertones and 2010 will be terrible for you as there will be many more posts that you don't want to read. You really must out your self or be branded cowardly..........
Happy New Year to everyone else.

Look at the met charts on this site.
Westwind.ch - Animation

We, here in the UK, have a problem with more than 1 inch of snow and our infrastructure grinds to a halt. We always get the wrong sort of snow or the road gritters have the wrong sort of grit or we get rain after the grit has been spread washing it away and the snow returns. None stop lame excuses by our stupid civil servants.
Anyway - enough of them as they are just f-----g useless and will be shot come the revolution. Keep your warm clothes, snow shovels and car survival kits at the ready.(Yes - people end up sleeping in their cars at the road side if we have more than about 4 inches of snow) Look at the top left hand corner on each chart for the date and time validity and look at Wednesday onwards. Not good at all for the New Year really. Every day you check on this site the validity will have rolled one day further on so it never goes out of date.
Remember Buys Ballots law - In the Northern Hemishpere if you stand with your back to the wind the Low Pressure will be on your left hand side.

Global warming ? ............Bollocks.
Climate Change? ............Bollocks.
We will make absolutely no difference at all to this planet, but lets keep it nice and tidy for them that come after us and hope they can do the same for the next crowd.

Guys - Happy New Year to all of you and your families - you really are a fantastic crowd.

David,

Happy new year to you. Don’t agree with everything you say, but your posts do cheer me up and make me laugh, in a non offensive politically correct way!!!.

I’m ashamed to say the charts mean nothing to me can you explain them in simple terms, for a simple man.

We are travelling down from the North West to the West Country on Wednesday to see family, heading back on Friday, are we in trouble?.
Regards
Nick

Nick,
Here is quite a good explanation on this site.

Weather front - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personally, I wouldn't start from the North West on Wednesday but the chances are the motorways will be reasonable. If you need to cross Bodmin or Dartmoor look out? Those can often be troublesome. Be prepared.
The charts are only up to five days in advance so you will need to look on Monday night /Tuesday for beyond the 31st.

ps - I try to be as none PC as I possibly can. The days of being PC are , I believe, well and truly gone and good riddance as well.

Darn it Dave, I was going to invite you to a 'Meat is Murder' Tofu Party when I got better and now you've totally outed yourself.

You'll be calling the nancy boys uphill gardners, poofters and rear gunners next.

It really is too bad of you mate.. I thought you might turn over a new leaf in 2010 and become a wee bit more touchy feely.

Oh well... :worried:

Well,
Although I do try to be user friendly Keith, being PC is no longer a luxury we can afford.
The latest airline bomb attempt yesterday could be an example of being PC by the security staff and allowing this guy through with the same explosive as the shoe bomber, and given the same scenario and outcome, if he was on my aeroplane he would not have survived as far as the arrival gate. His demise would have been the result of racasan turbulence. We saw what happened previously when an attempt on transatlantic flights was made and the ensuing upheaval at every airport around the world. That affected us all in a big big way. Now this lates guy is in hospital with third degree burns (can I finish the burning process for him).

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Can we afford to be PC anymore.....?

I don't think so.

Wow! That low flying one parted your hair David!

Good fishing on here today....

I've just renamed my keyboard box and screen a computer thingy - can't bring myself to call it PC anymore, better get a MAC.

Sorry, got cabin fever. Now locked down for 11 days without human contact - getting ever so edgy. Oxygen doesn't help calm me down and as for the friggin' steroids!

Rage rage rage.. :shout:

Bi bi... :)

Hi David,
Do I take it that your maps show the winds for the latter part of this week will be coming from near to Siberia and meeting a moisture laden front moving north across the southern half of England?
Unwelcome export from Russia, if true!

Keith,

Perhaps to ease your solitude, Dave can send you a copy of the Tokyo Convention on International Air Travel.

Dave,

Please flag the sections authorising the use of force by aircraft crew.....

Dave, thanks but read that on 25th & 26th.

"An enthralling read" - GT40s

"Couldn't put it down" - Osama Bin Laden

"What does it mean?" - Chinese Flight International Magazine

"Asleep Now, thanks" - Keith Hardy

A very happy new year to you David. I agree with practically everything you say on this forum - should I be worried!?

On the subject of airport security, I have long felt that the whole system would be much more efficient if they profiled the passengers most likely to be suicide bombers, eg young and of middle eastern, african, afro carribean or far eastern appearance and gave them the full security works while making it easier for anglo saxon grandfathers like me to pass through security. Unfortunately, the powers that be are prepared to risk the lives of all air travellers in the interests of being PC and not offending the perfectly innocent passengers who would meet the criteria for being potential suicide bombers. There is no such thing as guaranteed security but, with the numbers of travellers involved, it would surely be much more efficient the non PC way. To my knowledge there has never been an old, or even middle aged, suicide bomber - we are much too sensible and and probably beyond the age when 100 virgins would be useful!

PS The home made limoncello was nice at Christmas.

What a loser Mr Abdul Hasif Nigerahmed Goat Tetherer turned out to be. Even if he had succeeded - what did he think he was going to get in the hereafter with his bollocks blown off, eh? :stunned:

Anyway, and now - back to the Weather.

Sorry Keith. The above bit on profiling should have been in the next thread, where you had already mentioned it anyway.

A very Happy, Prosperous and above all, Safe 2010 to all members of this forum.
