very interesting Cobra book

This is not about GT40s, but perhaps it is related: on the Kirkham Motorsports web site, they have just published a free download of their book on the design and build of the custom 427 Cobra that KMS built for Larry Ellison, who was already a customer of KMS. The book documents their build of a Cobra with a machined billet aluminum chassis and literally the finest of everything in every component. Although copies of the book (with billet aluminum covers bound in leather) are available, I suspect most folks will do what I did- read it on line. The photos and technical data are quite interesting. The finished car is extraordinary- really a work of art.

It is fortunate indeed for all the other manufacturers building GT40s that these guys decided NOT to do them. They would more than likely instantly be at the top of the heap; even granting the formidable work done by those replicating original GT40 chassis, the quality of the work at Kirkhams' facilities is something altogether apart.

Their web site is Kirkham Motorsports - Leading manufacturer of aluminum bodied 427 and 289 replicas.

(full disclosure, I am a friend of these guys and own one of their Cobras.)
