Amazing. Absolute commitment in all the corners. If you know the track at all, you'll know that it’s no easy task even for the best of them.
Not the first time he'd cleaned up at Bathurst though. He came the year before (I think) with a pair of Rover V8s. Took advantage of the newly introduced International Group A rules and then took all the local teams by surprise. A period of mixed emotions for many of us Australians, hoping that an Australian would show him the way, then watching TW wipe the floor so convincingly. No doubt he had the talent.
Oh, and just a footnote. The in-car live camera technology that we saw here was developed for and first introduced at Bathurst in that era by Aussie technicians. It was amazing to watch the helicopter (that received the signal) follow the race car around the track. Some of the drivers of that era would even be interviewed in their cars during the race!
