Video of Tom Walkinshaw

Great post Chris. TWR came out here that year with 3 of the big cats, and cleaned up. They were a very impressive car in their day. Tom was really "on it" over the top of the Mountain. Two wheeling it through Macphilamy Park. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Amazing. Absolute commitment in all the corners. If you know the track at all, you'll know that it’s no easy task even for the best of them.

Not the first time he'd cleaned up at Bathurst though. He came the year before (I think) with a pair of Rover V8s. Took advantage of the newly introduced International Group A rules and then took all the local teams by surprise. A period of mixed emotions for many of us Australians, hoping that an Australian would show him the way, then watching TW wipe the floor so convincingly. No doubt he had the talent.

Oh, and just a footnote. The in-car live camera technology that we saw here was developed for and first introduced at Bathurst in that era by Aussie technicians. It was amazing to watch the helicopter (that received the signal) follow the race car around the track. Some of the drivers of that era would even be interviewed in their cars during the race!

Phew! That Jag sounds lovely. You can see why Ron and other people on this site want to build an XJ13 with that engine....

On a completely different matter Classic Cars magazine published in England say they are carrying a feature on the GT40 in their next edition...
They did rather a good section on the Ferrari Daytona in the current edition...
