Water pump suggestions please

I have now acquired an engine which has one or two non-standard parts! It had an electric water pump, which was not included in the purchase, so now I need to work out what water pump to fit, and how to connect it. This may be complicated by the fact that it is fitted with a Drive Belt (Danny Bee). The first couple of pictures show the front of the engine a) with the engine plate attached, and b) with it removed. (I don't intend re-using the engine plate)

The next 2 pictures show the inlet and outlet into the block. As you may guess I am keen to replace the recessed unions with something more suitable.

Also as you can see from the pictures the front of each head is fitted with a huge water pipe. Therefore I have a block inlet pipe, a block oulet pipe and 2 large pipes to the heads, where normally I would expect just the two holes into the block.

Can I still fit a mechanical water pump? Or am I now stuck with using an electrical one? I’m perfectly happy using an electric water pump. It’s just I’ve never been involved with them before, so what type/ make/ model can I fit?

Also what about the water pipes to the heads? Where do they connect to? How? Schematics appreciated.

iwould suggest for cheapness and ease of parts would be to blank off the hole and use a DAVIS CRAIG inline electric water pump also you will gain a few bhp as your not driving the pump on belts

Hi Lee, that's an interesting bit of plumbing. Someone has been to a great deal of trouble to get all that to work. I would suggest that if you don't want to use all that kit, you blank off the holes in the heads, fit a standard front cover, and either a standard water pump, or an electrical pump, such as the Davies Craig type, with the standard pump impeller removed.
If you want rid of all the excess bits, then I would be willing to supply a front cover and standard water pump in exchange for the bits.I love messing around with these unusual modifications.

Lee,
I just happen to have a front cover to a 302 that I recently parted out. The engine was from a flood car and was never driven and is basicly brand new. If you pay the postage, would let you have it for that.
