Welding Gear/Tools

Hi folks

I am in the process of setting up my workshop and could really use some advice - for a welding novice, what would be the best: a 180amp MIG, or one of the Henrob gas welding setups (used to be called Dillon)? I want to make up mobile chassis stands and all the other bits I will need, plus a bit of stainless exhaust welding etc. Also, I would be interested in what you all think should be on my "must have" tools list!

Cheers

Air powered rivet tool!
Roll around tire cradles(4). The kind you put the car on. If you make your own out of plywood, two 1/2" squares, and put 4" wheels on them the car will high enough to crawl under for most stuff and you can still move it around the garage.

Greg,

I recentley bought a steel bandsaw, & wouldn't want to be without one now!!

Not only does it cut neat & square *every* time, but you can set it sawing & get on with other jobs while it's doing the work!

Cost about 200 ukp, but you can get cheaper.
