What costs?

Hello,
As i'm infected by the GT40 virus i've been makin' a Oddysee on the internet to find out which kit is best compared to it's price.
As i am most impressed by the kits from down under, it gives me big problems getting the kit imported and getting the car streetlegal.
(since it's a manufacturer from outside the E.E.C. it needs a european type-qualification and as far as i know there are no GT40 kits from Down-Under in Europe.)
To get such a car streetlegal i should build two cars for testing purposes only and the Dutch Buro of Roadtraffic will even make a crashtest with it.(and you end up with two wreck's and mayby a type-quallifaction, Go ahead boy, build us another one!)
Well, apart from the costs of building the cars i haven't even mentioned the costs of getting the job done.(after which the legal car is taxed with 42.7% Wealth tax, on top of the import tax of 19.7% for Luxery goods)
As you can see it's not a interesting option at all.

Anyway, my questions are, as i found the GTD40 website, what are the costs of this kit?(please in several kit forms)
And do they also provide side impact bars in the doors? (Dutch traffic is killing)
Does a 911/G50 gearbox fit in it?
DOES GTD still suply kits (as i noticed there were topics about it on this site)

The difference is that the GTDkit is manufactured in the E.E.C. and can be declared streelegal with a SVA and then imported to the Netherlands, which is still expensive but more affordable.

i've E-mailed the same questions to GTD a couple of weeks ago but they don't answer,
so my last source is the Forum.

Please keep me informed.....
Greetings
Dutch Peter

Dutch Peter,
From Belgian Fred,

Send me a email so I can share with you the great challenge of registering...
On your kit question, I can also give you some tips, but I am not an expert...

Dutch,

The best bet for you, I think, is to purchase a completed car. Check the for sale section, there is one listed that is reasonable.

GTD isn't making kits right now (at least from what I can tell reading) and I'm not sure what will happen in the future. There are good kits available from Down Under and from America as well and there will be some (or are) in the UK soon.

Peter,

Buying the car is the easiest ! (when you got the money). Here in France it was horrible to registre the car. We bought the car 6 years ago in Belgium ... (hello Fred !) and the only way was to record the car as a vintage car with old Ford numbers.
Lot of guys do like this with GT40 replicas also in USA. You can use GT40P .... numbers if you want, but be carefull with financial services ! Registering the car as a new car is almost impossible

.
Just few things to know : the most existing kits in Europe are GTD, Tornado, KVA others as Roaring 40, ERA, Sabre are most commun in USA & Australia. They are much more detailled but also more expensive...
A good GTD fitted with a V8 Ford could be get around 38 000 € to 46 000 €
So good luck now for your researchs !
