What gearbox ?

Hl everyone,

I have a 5.8 351 v8 engine and currently a UN1 gearbox (not mated together/fitted) but due to the power of the engine would I be best to get a audi gearbox that takes more power as standard ?

If so there appear to be lots of audi gearboxes 01e, 01x etc.

What one is the best one to look for !

Will be going in a GT40.

Yes, searc on the forum here. Should be a few post on thd different codes relating to gear ratios and torque.
A challenge with the audi box is flywheel, clutch, gearlinkage, gearbox mounts, engine sits 50mm higher in chassis compared to the UN1, need bespoke driveshafts, 351W has taller deck height than 302/347 which can be an issue clearing the rear clam on mk1.
If you already have a UN1-13 I would opt to uprate it with an LSD and a one piece uptated shaft. Will be cheaper in total and easier to install.

I tried the O1E onto 351W and ditched the gearbox as could’nt close the rear clam. Used UN1 and lowered engine mounts to SGT spec.

Look at UDO on the forum. He used O1E. It can be done.
Many GT40’s run 400+ with UN1

The 351 w engine has already been lowered in my chassis so best stick with the UN1 gearbox and upgrade.

Do you know who sells the LSD and uprated shaft.
