I love this. Are you selling a kit?
Unfortunately I don't have the ability to sell a kit. I purchased my components from several different people. The fog light buckets came for H-Craft Customs. The aluminum rings were purchased from a builder in Canada who had made an extra set when he was making parts for himself. The Lexan covers were from Michael Hampson, and the fog lights themselves came from Amazon. So I don't have any of the original templates! Sorry about that!

Morning Rob,

Jack Lanphere suggested I send you some of the Ford Drawings I have of the Doors to see if it can help with the crash bar. I have attached the document, but I'm not sure this gives you much. You can see the crash bar setting diagonally in the door, but there really isn't any good pictures that can give you measurements. I try to see if I can find any more detail. So far the best I have are some of Jack's photos of the inside of his doors.

That is very interesting. Thank you. Are you building a GTR?
Thank you David. That is very helpful. I just got back from visiting Jack Lanphere, (to see H's old car). Came back with a bunch of fun GT-R stuff including H's old wheels and tires. Thanks Jack. :)

Hi Dan, I will let David chime in about his build but last I heard he was building one. How is the progress on your build? I'm planning to hit it hard next week.

Hi Dan, Yes, I believe Rob, Jack and I are the current active builds/rebuilds that have been posting on the site (Jon Gore is working on his but I haven't heard from him recently). Here is an attached photo of my car. I'm working mostly on body right now. My car is running and driving, but not yet licensed. I have been trying to get my front end completed, including installing fog lights, brake ducts, front fender liners, and OE hinges on the front hood. I'm trying to get final fit on the front hood which is going to involve some fiberglass work and some magic. Then I need to get the lock mechanism installed (Jack, I like the OE like lock you designed!!). I have the front hood lift struts and the fan enclosue to install. Then I'll be done with this part of the project.

Hello, I’m thinking that since your gas cap is on the passenger side you will need a grab handle for the drivers side. Now that I have installed one I have discovered all the hills and valleys and your install will be a breeze.

Yes, I need a working one on the drivers side and a non functional one on the passenger side. All the angles in the fiberglass body seams in that particular area are tough. I think your grab handle idea helps make the lines look cleaner. Not sure how it will work with my space in those areas. I need to get a little further along with the door hinges and alignment, then I will know what I have.

Sound good
I assume your fender is attached to the aluminum space frame similar to the way mine is done. The second pic of the lock assembly inside the fender shows how the fender attaches.
Have a look and take done pics.
Thank you

Hello David,
Your assemble that attaches the fender to the space frame should be similar so take some pics and we can compare to adjust the handles to work
Thank you

Well, that is the problem. The answer is no. If you will recall I have hinges to install butterfly doors. So the hinge mechanism intrudes into that area. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do until I start mounting them. If you look at this installation on the an actual GT, it appears the hinges pass below the hood latch mechanism. So I will probably fabricate a plate like you have, but it will not cover the full area. It will need to leave room for the hinge mechanism.

Sorry, I haven’t posted or checked out posts in a while. Looks like you’re making good progress!!!

I’m currently slowly painting my car, then it’ll be reassembly time (interior is done but removed.). I’ll be sure to post pics when it’s complete.

Can’t wait to check your car out next time I get to Denver!

Hi David - I would love to see how you do those wing doors. I don't think its been done on a GT-R.
Jon - Your car looks awesome.

I've been plucking away at my doors. I beefed up my hinges (still needs powder coat). They are solid now. My original plan was to use roller bearings. They worked well but it was hard to put the doors back on by myself (stacking the washers while holding the door was a pain). Bronze bushings solved that problem. I can now lube the hinge pin with a greese gun as well. I can offer a parts list for the hinge upgrade, if anyone is interested.

I also finished bonding my anti-intrusion bars inside the doors.

David, I’d also love to hear about the doors. I assumed it was the same kit they make for the Ford GT, which is insanely expensive.

Thanks Rob, it’s coming along! One of Allan’s tricks for the doors is gets the shims/washers to stay in place by using thin metal HVAC tape. Amazing!! I’ve taken my doors off and on dozens of times by myself and have little issue with washers/spacers using that method.

Attached are a couple pics of the interior before belts and a few switches were added.
