What Have you done to your RCR GT-R lately?

Hi Robert,
Amazon Parts List Below. You will need to drill out the existing holes in your hinge to 5/8" ID. As well as the center piece with the greese zirk. You may need to tap the center piece with a thread to match your zerk thread. Cheers!

I forgot to mention. Using these bronze bushings will put the gap between upper and lower hinge right at 1/4". In other words each bushing will give 1/8" gap together will be right at 1/4". If your tub side hinge is low might just need spacers. If its high and the gap is less than 1/4" might need to either lower the tub side or raise the door side hinge plate a bit. If you need a different should bolt length McMasterCar has them.

HINGES - Yes, Jon was right. I'm using the extremely expensive kit that was put together by Guerin Engineering for Butterfly doors on the GT. They were designed and engineered about 15 years ago, specifically for the GT. They were a direct bolt in solution. However, like everything on the GTR, things will require some modification. Here are a few photos of the hinges.

Where, pray tell, did you snag those? I can’t seem to find them for sale online.

Hi Jon,
Unfortunately, they were discontinued by the manufacturer long ago. I found them on eBay from a guy named "fordgtguy". I bought the set he had listed, and he immediately listed a second set for more money. I saw them on eBay a couple weeks ago, but I just checked again, and they are gone. He must have sold them, or maybe took them down. Not sure. He was asking $17k.

wowza. That’s a spicy meatball!! Congrats on getting one of the last sets in existence!

After having my car to Allan/Richie’s place two separate times for mods/fabrication, I brought it back one more time to get painted. After a failed paint experiment at a friends place, my journey is going to finally be over in a few weeks.

I wish I was closer to Allan. He makes it looks so easy. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

I've been working on the door trim. Probably should have bit the bullet and went with power windows. I have about two weeks labor on the trim.

I copied Jack's idea and made two additional braces to the roll bar. Hoping this helps with stabilizing the clam shell gaps.

Thanks! You bet I’m cheating, these dudes are great. I spent the majority of the day sanding in prep for paint.

Rob, where did you source your roll bar braces. I was talking with Jack about these braces on Friday. I need to match what you have done.

I ordered the DOM tubing and threaded ends off Amazon. And fabricated the brackets. Mine are steel. Jacks are Aluminum. Either way will work fine. I'm just more confident welding steel. :)

I'm getting ready to go through the licensing process so I can get my car on the road and do some tuning, testing, etc. While this makes it sound like I'm almost done....I'm not. I still have hundreds of things on my list to make the car right. For instance, I have a lot of work to do on the doors, the rear end, plus the entire interior. Eventually I will take the car to get painted (I still have decided on a color). But in the meantime, I want the car to look the part as it starts spending more time out of the garage. So, I decided to dress up the white gel coat finish with a set of Mustang stripes. It makes the car more identifiable, and at the same time motivates me to keep working because it's starting to feel like a GT!!!

I’m right there with ya. I just sent my paperwork off for obtaining a VIN on Friday. Good luck with your stuff. Love the stripes!
