where to get ARP studs & fasteners?

Can anyone recommend a good supplier to use for ARP fasteners? I need to buy a head and main stud kits and an engine fastener kit. As always, price is the major consideration.

Thanks,
Lynn

Re: where to get ARP studs & fasteners?

Lynn,
Got all my ARP stuff from Summit Racing. It helps to download ARP's catalog, pick out the part numbers you want, then enter them as a Summit/ARP part number. I don't know how their prices compare with others, but Summit stocks most items and I usually have them in hand a day or two after placing the order.
Non-stocked items usually take a week or two to get.

Agree. Summitracing.com or Jegs.com. Both are great although I usually get a little better service from Summit. Especially for custom orders. Also CV Products from Charlotte is a good source. I would just get the part numbers and shop around.

Well, Gary, that's exactly what I have been doing for the last couple of hours. Virtually nobody beat Summit's price on them- maybe a couple of cents here and there. And no one carried the selection that Summit did. I was really surprised at the selection that Jegs had (or didn't have) for Ford. Some of the part numbers were special order and some just weren't there. The hardest to find was the main stud kit for the R302 only Summit and an outfit in Reno called Century Performance stocked the part number (it was a special order on Jegs.)

So, good call Dave!! I didn't do an exhaustive search,a half dozen vendors, but I have the comparisons if anyone wants them. So, here are the "Kits" I plan to get:

ARP-254-4703 12pt. Chrome Moly Undercut ½" studs*- Heads $154.69
ARP-154-5605 Chrome Moly Steel Studs (no options) - Mains $ 67.39
ARP-554-9701 12pt. Black Oxide Chrome Moly Steel – Engine Kit $116.95
Total $339.03
*short studs undercut to equalize “stretch”

I assume the engine kit is for intake, valve covers, etc. If so I might consider the 12pt stainless steel ones that ARP makes. Very strong, look very nice and won't rust. I have been quite happy with them.

Summit does carry a lot more then is in there catalog. All you need is the manufacturers part number and away you go.

Gary,

I am sure the SS would be purdy and it would be my preference, but I am trying to save my nickels where ever I can. Right now everything that I look at has to pass a bling vs. engineering scrutiny test. Black Oxide chrome moly wins that battle and saves $33. This isn't a huge amount of money, but amounts like this do add up. I am tying not to skimp one internals, like the lifters: I am doing everything I can to keep the Crower HPPO lifters in the spec. Same thing with the shaft mount vs stud mount rockers.

Hey Lynn,
If you know what you are looking for and can spend some time eBay comes up trumps now and again.... it worked for me and my Eagle Rods I bought.

Summit Racing (www.summitracing.com or 1-800-230-3030) is just a great company to deal with. They ship quickly, and have a no hassle return policy.

Also, if you find lower prices elsewhere and tell them, they will beat it... even on one occassion where the low price elsewhere was a misprint discounting a $375 item to $275!
