which audi 6 speed diesel box for my 302?

i bought a brand new box from germany from an a8 6 spd manual with code edf which is the one with the built in oil cooler pump not all of them have this feature.

Guys, does anyone have more info on the 0B1 boxes. TQ ratings / Ratios / Codes?

I want to swap to an 0B1 so that I can use the original clutch, and to reduce driveshaft angle.

I know that the following codes exist, KBZ, JJF, LLV, KXP but dont have any info on the TQ rating or ratios. Most importantly, I want to know if there are differences in TQ ratings between each of these codes, or does the code only represent a ratio difference.

I obviously want the toughest box I can get my hands on, I expect this would be the one used on the 2.7TDI.

Can anyone help?

^^ thanks for that! Excellent first post!

Using Google Translate :

The production start is the manual transmission one gear-0B4.
As part of the facelift set each one on the engine following the manual transmission. The figure shows the 0B4 transmission. The 0B3-gear is up to the quattro extent identical to the 0B4-transmission (a transmission line).
The gearbox 0B2 - the quattro variant - and the 0B1-gear - the front-variant - are based on the same basic design as the 0B4/0B3-Getriebe, but are constructive in many details, dimensions
and data differently. The gear 0B2 and 0B1 are another, separate transmission line.

I guess that means that the 0B4 and 0B3 are identical apart from Quattro and the 0B2/0B1 are similar to 0B4/0B3 but have different ratings and gearsets.

Looks like the 0B3 is the one I need.

It also shows how much they moved the driveshaft forward, and up.

puuuuuurrrrrrfect!

This is exactly what I was looking for.

Now - does anyone have a cross reference that shows which 3 letter part codes correspond to the 0B3 trans?

...Another interesting tid bit is that the Caymen uses an 01X, and the more powerful S uses a variant of the 0A2.

I've come across this said a couple of times, but so far I've been unable to corroborate it.

Of the 5-speed Boxter/Cayman transmissions, both the earlier generation G86/00-01 and the later G87/01 look very similar, and are two-piece case designs:

and appear virtually identical to the Audi 012:

Of the 6-speed Boxter S/Cayman S transmissions, although the earlier generation G86/20:

boxster003.jpg

and the later G87/20-21 look different, both are also two-piece case designs:

with the latter being virtually identical to the Audi 0A2:

The 0A2 looks like a two-piece case evolution of the Audi 01X:

which itself looks like it has a main section and three-piece case design evolved from the older 01E:

So unless it shares some internals with the 012, my understanding is that no variant of the 01X was used in the Boxster or Cayman except the derivative 0A2 (G87/20-21).

The boxster is the 012 box. Although I can't remember which one as there are three different boxster boxes depending on year.

The 5-speed 012 derivatives would be:

G86/00 (1997-1999) Boxster
G86/01 (2000-2004) Boxster
G87/01 (2005-2008) Boxster & Cayman

The 6-speed 0A2 derivatives would be:

G87/20 (2005-) Boxster S
G87/21 (2006-) Cayman S

The 01X design is based off the 012 5 speed, as the center line gear spacing is similar.

The 0A2 is a newer design, based mostly off the 01E, but the differences between the two are probably too numerous to support this.

And yes I was incorrect, the Boxster 5 uses the 012, the S versions are the 0A2.
