Which Heads?

Using the advice from you great forum members, I'm going to go with a set of KB forged aluminum pistons that will yield 10.3:1 compression. I'm waiting foe the tech from Inglese to contact me regarding the best cam profile to go with a set of Webers. But I'm still not sure what heads to go with. I know big valves with huge ports aren't really good for the street. How about the AFR 185CC aluminum heads? They have 58cc chambers, 185/76cc intake/exhaust ports, and 2.02/1.60 valves. Seems like a good choice to maintain good low RPM velocity.

What do you guys think?

Bill,

I took the Edelbrock RPM performer aluminium heads for an rpm range of 1500-6500 rpm with Edelbrock cam # 7122
(duration 290/300).

I don't remember the size of your engine, but the 185s will work great for anything up to 347. If you are going bigger(351) you might consider the 205s from AFR.

AFR 185s are the best out of the box up to 400hp. Be carefull to match spring selection with cam lift.

Trickflow Trackheat - Standard TFS head w/ high lift springs. Good to 400hp without any porting.

Edelbrock RPM similar to Trickflow.

Edelbrock Victor Jr. - Best out fo the box high HP heads. 500hp+ potential You'll compromise low end for top end HP.

Intake runner volume will impact low end TQ and throttle response. My current motor uses Trickflow heads ported by Total Engine Airflow. They know their stuff!

You can't go wrong with any of these heads.
