Who's going to have a CAV, RF or ERA Car in Vegas this weekend at the SAAC Meet?

Who\'s going to have a CAV, RF or ERA Car in Vegas this weekend at the SAAC Meet?

Hi all,

I'm thinking of jumping a flight out to Vegas Friday afternoon and return Saturday evening; quickie trip. Can someone let me know if CAV, RF or ERA will have cars at the SAAC event at LVMS? Either an owner vehicle, or a dealer demo car is fine by me. Just want to look at one or more manufacturers cars up front.

Depending on the response I get, I may make the trip.
Thanks in advance..

My understanding is that Finish Line was trying to have Steve Toners CAV completed for the event. I would give them a call (702-643-7994) or try Bob Lacey's number (858-342-3246) to find out.

Gary is correct. I don't know if the car is finished - this is what they told me a week ago:
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">quote:</font><HR> It's very close but at this moment it's hard to promise that it will done. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

But even if it's not operational, I'm sure it'll be available for viewing at Finish Line, which is right between the race track and the Shelby building...

I'll be down there Saturday and Sunday. Don't know who else might be showing up with replicas...

Hi Steve.
Great, I will see you at Vegas Saturday.

Steve,

Thanks for the offer.

I did stop in at Finish Line early Saturday morning & spoke to Roy. He was headed over to the track, but stopped what he was doing & jumped out of the car to speak with me. He took me over to your car and let me look at it (I emphasize look, because touching another man's car without his ok or being there, is akin to touching his wife IMHO).

Being the first CAV I've seen, I was quite impressed. Nice fab work, glass work, and the interior looked very well done. I've seen lots of 'kit' cars, and have been unimpressed on way or another. I must say all the detailed craftmanship on your car speaks very highly of CAV.

I also got a minut to speak to Bob Lacey, and we had a good chat as well.

Thanks again for your courtesy, and I hope you get on the road soon. The wait would just be killing me!
Kind regards,

You must have just missed me, as we all pretty much headed out to the track at the same time...

There were no GT40s (real or replica) at the track. Unfortunately, my car isn't done yet, but the good news is that the engine is coming out on Monday and getting the Aviaid pan put on. Then it'll all go back together for good. They've got to sort out a glitch in the right rear suspension and we've still got to find a source of vacuum for the brake booster, but then it should be good to go.
