Will there ever be another reunion of GT40s ?

I have watched the video many times of the
1989 reunion. It made me wonder if there
would be another. I feel that if they do
have another it would be far more popular
than the first. I think there is
more interest today than 13 yrs ago.
If they do. I hope they have it at the
track in Topeka, Kansas. this would make for
a larger attendance because
of the central location. Perhaps the
promoters of the last event are reading
this forum and realize how the interest in
these fine cars have become more popular.
If they do have another I will most
certainly try and be the first in line to
attend.

It would even be a bigger hit if they
include the replicas which exemplifies
the popularity.
2004 would be the 40th anniversary.

Hersh,
A member of the Kansas City Cobra Club has a very close connection with the owners of Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas.
Perfect place to hold it.
Let me know what I need to do to make this happen.
I'm in.

another thought...
we have a new NASCAR speedway here in Kansas City.
That would work perfectly too !!!

nothing personal but its our turn - and they were designed and built here too

so can someone talk to Ford and/or Goodwood for the 40 th anniversary being in the uk !

if it happens it will have to happen with manufacturer support even if this realistically means USA to tie in with release of the new production cars (by the way what should we call them to differentiate to Mk IV or J cars or V or whatever ?)

Hershal,

There was one in 1994, Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (it's on my GT40 cd on Ebay). The last time I talked with George Stauffer, he said there wasn't enough interest to have another just yet. ???

John

Josvdp,

I spoke to John Etheridge (over the phone) several years ago and he said there are reunions held in England / Europe, just like in the USA. Approximately 1/2 of the originals are in the US and the other half over there (at least it was several years ago). Keep your ears open and let us know if anything happens.

I think it would be a mistake if Ford
at least didn't try and put one together.
Especially with the introduction of the new
GT40. With Ford's help the other promoter
could pull off the biggest and best
gathering ever.
I do think in all honosty it probably
should be held in The birth place.

If no reunion can be done then I say there
is enough interest exists because of the
growing numbers of replicas to have an
all GT40 real or replica gathering here in
the states. As Bill says, they have a
facility in Topeka that rivals the others.
I'm sorry That I don't have the ability
to promote such a gathering. I truly feel
that it would become one of the best and
most enjoyable events around. If the
cobras can do it I'm sure we can.

It would be nice to see an event hosted around the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a large showing of original 40's in conjunction with the launch of the new 40 in 2003/4, 40th anniversary etc and parking in the infield for owners of originals and enthusiasts with replicas.
