Windshield wiper fitting

Need some help in locating a fitting.

The wiper shaft is 1/4" diamter. It came with a half inch diameter knurled fitting, secured with a set screw.

The wiper arm I want to use requires a 5/8" knurled fitting. Got the wiper arm from a Mustang parts supplier, but they don't list the knurled fitting.

Any ideas where I can find a 5/8" diameter knurled fitting with a quarter inch hole?

Pics show the half inch fitting and the opening for the 5/8" fitting on the wiper arm.

Chuck,

You could get a Mustang wiper arm shaft from a salvage yard and see if you can get the knurled hub off and reuse it on your wiper shaft. I wouldn't think it would cost much. Usually the shafts are peened over to retain the hub. I doubt it's available separately.

Fabricate a sleeve or cut the 'stang shaft off at the proper length, drill it out to 1/4 and retain it with opposing set screws slightly counter sunk in the 1/4 drive.

Check out your local NAPA store, I bought some wiper arm parts, shafts, and the splined hubs you mentioned. It was a while ago, but they had a couple of different sizes.
Good Luck

Thanks for the good suggestions. Spent some time at the local NAPA store and a couple of hardware stores. No one had the exact part. But was able to fine a nylon bushing that filled the gap between the opening in the wiper arm and knurled knob perfectly. So the wiper is now installed. Will do a deatiled post on my blog soon.

Sure do appreciate the suggestions.
