Wiper Gear Box

I'm trying to install the wiper gear box today and noticed it only fits with the bundy tube attachment on the top. This means the bundy tube requires some bending for it to go through the tub. Is that OK?

Thanks

A few bends are ok..just not too sharp a radius, and plenty of good quality grease inside the tube. I used a synthetic teflon based grease I had laying around, not too heavy, and my thoughts were that I didn't want to be pulling it apart anytime soon. The wiper works well. By the way, where did you finally install your motor?

As mentioned you can make some easy bends. I had to do the same for the VSE cobra. It does seem to work well, and I too lubed the crap out of the cable as it seems that is the only thing that might keep the cable from sawing the tubes up. I think I used wheel bearing grease which seemed a bit thick but tested ok when I put it all together. It is a sketchy system at best IMO, but good enough for an emergency as I don't plan on much rain driving in either the cobra or the gt40.

Thanks guys. I ended up locating the wiper motor in the front section. I would post a picture, but my laptop took a dump and the only other computer I have is my son's. His doesn't have a provision to download the pictures from the memory stick.

A local Speedometer shop advises using heavy axle grease for a cable lubricant. I'm presuming that it is the same type of cable..

Bill - find me a gearbox man!!! :)

G50 or a ZF that I won't have to spend my life savings on... ((sigh))

I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a kit. Wife is even alright with it as long as one other car goes. Cobra will ship in the next few weeks and hopefully the Nova will be completed by spring - if I can get more time out in the shop to get it done..

The cable for the Wipers is an odd thing, it's like a cable gear. Not sure what else to call it, but it has a cable with circular teeth around it that act like a gear from the wiper and motor ends. Like I said, it is sketchy old school UK technology :)

Trans is key before ording the car, ZF's seem to be hard to get as well as most Porsche trans. The clutches for either are not a problem. With the ZF they are cheeper and easier to get, but no shortage of porsche aftermarket suppliers as well. You will need a special flywheel and pilot bearing for Porsche, but other then that both likely the same headache with adapters/bell, axles linkage, etc.

Sorry - I hi-jacked the thread...

ZF's are very scarce.. From what I've found - an RBT trans is 4-5k more than the best G50. For that kind of $ I'll buy a custom clutch flywheel system or fab my own..
I believe I have a G50 all lined up now. I've sent Fran a couple more questions..
