Looking for the definitive procedure on changing the transaxle oil in the ZF. I have a unit that was masterfully rebuilt by Ron McCall and I'm changing the oil for the first time since new(ly rebuilt). It only has 950 miles on it but the oil has been in there three years and I figure it can't hurt getting the "break in" particles out.
Couple of questions:
1. Can I reuse the copper gasket on the drain plug? It is pretty thick and meaty and not sure how difficult it will be to find one like it.
2. Is correct procedure to pout the oil in through the top (breather vent) until it pours out the side plug hole?
I have a hole drilled near where it says "ZF" in the side of the case and I assume that is the "overflow" for when it is full but want to be sure before I mess with it.
Thanks!
