Not heroes, we were just doing our job in what proved to be a senseless action in the end.

There were many who deserved that status however.

It was a long time before it was recognised as a military action in my country.
 
i make my living making helicopter parts, flight testing, etc, which in turn, allows me to afford my CAV. for me, im more comfortable around a helicopter than my own car!

The reason for the expense of the rotary wing license was I wanted to get a commercial license. I wanted to do that as a career. Then I started doing some digging and found out that there aren't that many jobs... YET. The Vietnam era pilots that are out there flying choppers now are getting close to retirement age. Once that enormous group of pilots are out of the market, then there will be ample room for a young buck like myself to get in the job search and make some money. I think I'll make some money with another career and just get a private pilots license with rotary wing and park the damn thing out in our front yard. I think that'd look pretty friggin sweet. LOL

The LUFTWAFFE in 1943 or so did fancy the idea, too:
