Clutch compression distance?

I'm in the process of getting a flywheel adapted to work with an Audi 016 and both my machinist and I are not confident on the amount of compression is required when bolting the clutch on. Anyone know the distance between the clutch mounting surface and flywheel before it is tourqued down? The clutch is a standard Sachs unit for the Audi.

why do you not measure using feeler gauges on an original Audi flywheel that your clutch comes of.

Well after a fruitless search through numerous websites and several Audi service manuals, I decided to measure up several Ford flywheel/clutch assemblies I have. Measurements ranged from 3mm (used) to around 6mm on a NOS clutch/pressure plate so my machinist and I decided to work with a 5.3mm distance. We have designed some flexibility in the design so that this distance can be altered rather easily in the future if necessary.

My machinist is swamped right now so I'm not expecting it to be completed for several months but Ill post some pictures when it's ready.
