180 degree is a fact. Turn the cam a tad to the right ( in a left hand drive car ) and I can turn my head and see whats on the screen, left or right. As I said no blind spots! I may have to big a screen, but I'll try it.

Can you drive it on the street? Of course you can! Can you ride a superbike on the street? Yes, of course you can! Do you need to be careful with a high powered sportbike or a sportcar. You better!

I drive my GTD with a normal internal mirror and two fender mirror's all the time. I try to pay attention and really watch what would be the blind spots. In reality I can see all the way around the car with the standard mirrors but I need to take the time to be sure cars are clear before I change lanes.

JUST LIKE A BIKE. (it's not a minivan)

Just comes down to seat time. I've known guys that spent 5-7 years building a GT40 and then sold it a few months later as driving was too nerve-racking for them. I've had mine since 2000 and was also nervous at first. It is RHD and I just have two small original-style bullet mirrors. I am used to turning my head all the way around to look out the rear cockpit window until I get a camera installed. My engine sits up a little high and I learned that the carb can fully hide a car in the blind spot on the left side. I'm very comfortable now and am addicted to driving it. Look twice and turn lanes once.

Oh and you better read up on the Vodoo motors and oiling vibration issues. Buyer beware. Google "vodoo motor issues"

Thanks Howard.
The oil consumption and that particular issue is pretty well known. (I am a member over at SVTP). The oil consumption would appear to be based on correctly breaking in the engine, and if you flog the engine it will use oil (most engines will).

My FE leaks oil....drives me crazy.

I haven't made up my mind, but you have brought up some issues that are a concern for sure.

For a dash through the country roads it is fantastic.
It is fine for interstate and other trips, but the engine noise becomes tiresome after a while.
On a track it is engaging, nostalgic, precise and loads of fun. At any speed mine is stable.
In city stop and go traffic, it SUCKS! Heavy clutch, poor visibility, constant knuckleheads that are speed matching for a pic.

It seems that oil leakage by the FE family of engines is a frequent complaint...so frequent that it'd be easy to presume that they ALL do it!

Cheers!
