MSD Repairs

My Digital 6 just gave up and left me stranded. It's not that old nor had it got a lot of miles on it. I have taken it apart to see if there is any signs of failure such as a loose wire or heat and there is nothing. Now I hate waste, so I look at this tangle of diodes and capacitors and think someone must know how to fix this thing!
Has anyone ever fixed one? I found some web info saying it's often a little diode but which one???
I'm in no rush as I have replaced the box with a new one but just curious.............

The first thing to get is a schematic (circuit) diagram of that box. Perhaps there may be Digital 6 troubleshooting suggestions on the internet. MSD doesn't have a sterling reputation for reliability so I'm sure this is not the first one that has failed. A Crane HI-6 has served me very well.

Just call MSD and they’ll issue you an RMA to get it repaired. I just had them rebuild a $500+ Billet distributor with all new guts for about $90. It has a warranty now too…

What Randy said.

My 6AL crapped out after 1 year of use. Sent it in and total charge was $65. Their testing will take the guess work out and your time is worth way more than what it'll cost you to get it fixed.

Thanks guys, your advice does make sense but as I am in UK it is not straightforward. A friend had a new 6AL unused and still boxed that I have fitted so all good for now. I might give them a call anyway and see what that say.
