Rear view mirror/camera

So in anticipation of better weather I thought I would address the lack of rear view in my AK40. Feeding the camera cable was an absolute mission but Im pretty happy with the outcome

Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Can you please provide a part number, manufacture, and perhaps a link to the mirror.

Regards Brian

I’ll have to research a little more. Says it cannot be dispatched to the US. When I get home, I’ll look for a US supplier.

Thank You !!!

This one gives me almost 180 deg of view. I tried a mirror on the windshield but was restricting my line of sight.

I'm planning on a Wolfbox Pro. I'd like to get the camera up a bit higher so that will be the challenge.

Yes I looked at those, good bit of kit, but I wanted to ensure it worked before spending a bit more money. The camera is barely noticeable where it is, just got to hope heat sink from the exhausts doesn't get it! Its a bit low but its a low car, and I predominantly wanted it for reversing more than anything else. The built in dash cam is useful too

I am still debating on a digital camera, but I want to mount it either on the back of the rear clam flushed inset where the EURO style plate inset is at or uner the clam looking through the rear glass.

I have the lucas rear mirror from Tornado, but do not like the quality of the item is also helpful to pushing me to a camera.

I think the rear glass might dazzle the camera in bright light personally. The camera between the pipes is almost invisible

``Invisible" - yes! But probably pretty soon ``inoperable" as well due to heat from the pipes? ... let us know how it goes ...

I'm quite happy with the Lucas mirror but an additional rear-view camera is in the planning. Just not sure which model - power supply to the tail and switch are installed ...

Possibly yes but the tailpipes dont seem to get that hot. Its one of the reasons I used a cheaper kit

Does your lucas one mount to the glass or ceiling? The one they sent, it is roof mount type without a mount
The arm on it is like 4 inches long.

Mount the camera on the roof as Bill K. did to gain the best field of view. If you have a roof vent, instead of drilling the roof, double sided tape would hold the camera just fine and run the cable through the vent.

Each to their own but I'm sorry it looks simply awful, totally ruins the beautiful lines of the car

My plan is to use a hinged vent cover with a latching lever accessible from inside. Since I have AC, the vent will not be real (too much effort to deal with water intrusion). There will be a drain tube that runs down one of the B-pillars.

The camera will be fastened to the underside of the cover. When parked, the vent will look period correct. When driving, pull the lever to raise the cover with the camera. Also going to include a brake light. Hoping I can 3D print the assembly and just drop it in.

I have zero blind spots in my car with the camera located in this position. It took a little work to get the camera to fit in the Nissan antenna housing but it's aerodynamic, and blends in with the cars flowing lines. Definitely not for the 'purist' mind you, but road use safety was more of a priority for me than anything else. Mirror & Camera are from Vantop.

That's a brilliant solution, well done with that!
