GT40/P/1058 2026 Feb27 Sale

It'll be interesting to see how 1058 does.

A bit of 1058 trivia.
1058 is the first GT40 I saw. It's also the first GT40 I rode it. In 1968, owner of the 1058 was David Carroll. In Boston, there was a garage called "Speedway Custom" (named after the street it was on). They worked on interesting cars and had interesting customers. My father would occasionally go there. One day he, my mother, and I were there when David Carroll showed up in 1058. I went for a ride in the car sitting on my mother's lap (I was much younger then).

Later, I saw 1058 at the 30th GT40 Reunion and talked with the owner. At that point, it was setup for racing, but it still retained some of the road car features (including the ash tray).

I have got the original side windows (including hardware) of it in my posession. If anyone knows how to get hold of the new upcoming owner, that would be greatly appreciated.

I saw P/1058 in the showroom at Legendary Motorcar back in March 2014:

I saw the car at SAAC Fontana in 2013 when Peter had it. There are small details that make me wonder about this. Look at the headlight fitment in the body - looks odd. Rear clip retainer straps are not correct. Ignition wires wrong, etc. Clearly not done with the correct parts nor a concours level of finish for something at this price.

"straps" is part of it. I think it's normal just one. And it's a leather strap with a clip like you'd find on a dog leash, not a metal cable covered with a sleeve and a loop for a caribiner. (I wouldn't be surprised if the originals are leashes with the handle loop cut off).

Orange spark plug wires are impossible to find, so I'm not going to fault them for that. (If I'm wrong, please point me to your source)

The "bundle of snakes" exhaust pipes have visible welds where small segments are joined to make to larger pipes.

Did it meet the reserve? Where it had the estimate, it now says "Price Upon Request" and a little below that, there's a button that says "Make An Offer".
