Will: I found a tip at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyLiB9XPNfw at 7 min 35 sec for installing the trans to engine. Also, found a Power Steering Delete if you use close mounted accessories such as the G8 and CTS-V. It is at Power Steering Delete - V8 Roadsters. Hope this helps Eric

    Ken's SLC build thread

If you are on the street don't use Evens. What I was talking about was cracked heads during racing or head gasket leaks. That is what is nice about forma-gasket low surface tension is not a problem. I just put a water pump in my mini-van and it did not have a weep hole, I believe most newer...

Questions before jumping into a SLC

Brain: I would build a spreadsheet. It can help keep track of options you want and when you have your build done keep a record of what you have in your car. It can also help with building you budget as well. I have done it for several cars I was looking at.

It could also be used on the street, especially when you start to get the kind of horsepower needed for the Texas Mile. Guard rails and concrete dividers are not kind to fiberglass.

Questions before jumping into a SLC

I have posted a new PDF file with links to the vendors so at later dates people can check for updated pricing. And I have added the other suggestions. I also found that there are O2 sensors that claim that they can handle lead in gas as some High Octane race gas still use lead, there are two...

Questions before jumping into a SLC

Tim We're not prejudice are we, but after looking at your web site looks like a nice unit. I have not installed any of these units, but seeing a few YouTube vids I think Fran my be correct as Holley is pretty much plug-n-play. One thing I would like to see in the other units, is what...

Questions before jumping into a SLC

Have any Idea of pricing, as Scott would put that in the wiki. MegaSquirt (MS3-Pro) has a lot of what MoTec has as well. I am just giving people a choice, each have their pros & cons, let people choose for themselves.

Questions before jumping into a SLC

Ben: Was checking on the Texas mile and that it is on an old airport runway and has seams. I saw the 2011 winner on Youtube and he had traction & launch control, which they said according to their data kept them from loosing control. I have been trying to get pricing on these systems and...

    Water Pump LS3 vs LS7

One thing I heard was that at a stoplight the LS has an overheating problems in the LS, I believe because of pressure looses. LS3 & LS7 Pumps Below left two As you can see those that come from the factory seal off the out let and weld on at sharp 90 deg. You can see that makes 2 sharp 90...

How much R134a for initial fill?

I am probably to late, but you should add compressor oil first. It does come in different weights like engine oil, should check with compressor supplier for weight and amount needed. Not many place sell the compressor oil, but I got mine from Farm & Fleet. If you did not get the oil in you...

Questions before jumping into a SLC

Brain: Just remember to find out what the rpm limit on the A/C compressor that you will use and set about 2-300 rpm lower for safety, a missed shift and all.

Questions before jumping into a SLC

People have tendency to forget and/or some times when wiring not correct. And pieces of A/C pump on track are not a good thing. As I said Factory Five did two of them and the RPM switch is cheap insurance. I think the Holley Dominator EFI may be able to shut off the A/C you would have to talk...

Questions before jumping into a SLC

If you are going to use this car for street as well as racing, are you going to have A/C? If so be for warned that A/C has an rpm limit, the guys at Factory Five found out the hard way by having not one but two grenade on them. I sent a link to Will who added it to the SCL wiki of the rpm...

    Ken's SLC build thread

I want to start out to say that both Ken and Scott can be correct, depending on the factors involved. The big problem with liquid as a heat transfer medium is that it can get temperature barrier layers, if there is very low turbulence. The other is that you need both heat transfer...
