01E Torsen differential

Just wondering if the torsen diff in an 01E quattro ('93) is of any value. Specifically, is this diff adaptable to an 016 transaxle? I have a non-LSD 016 transaxle in my gt40 and I would like to improve the traction somehow without spending a whole lot of money. I can have this diff for free essentially.

Hi Cliff, they are quite different unfortunately, we need to buy both for clients with 016 and others with 01E boxs and they aren't interchangable, appologies for the bad news ! Regards Paul

A related question: have you installed an 01E (this one is from a '93 Audi S4) in a GT40 with a SBF? Sounds like you have - is it a tougher installation than an 016 or about the same? And, does it use the same adapter plate at the 016 (made by Kennedy and others)??

Hi again, We install both in our SBF cars using a common adaptor made to suit both 01E and 016, we just send a different fastener kit and on of the dowels is longer on 01E, I'm sure Kennedys would do the same - best to ask I think.
The shift linkages or cables are different in our kits (from the second link back), as is the rear trans mount, rear trans stabiliser bar kit, and we use a shorter driveshaft/axel on the LHS with 01E. The flywheel and clutch kit is also different so if you have parts to instal an 016, not a lot will be useful in your 01E install unfortunately,
