Maxted Page in association with Willie Green now have these two cars for sale advertised on todays Motorsport if anyone would like to buy me a nice Christmas present - I'd settle for just one of them....

Unless, of course, that's how it was prepared and raced. Obvious really, but is it so???

According to the Ronnie Spain book, it left the factory painted "Cirrus white". Later (still white) it had blue and black stripes running around the perimeter of the car (that's how it's pictured in the book).

Then I hope your piggybank holds 895,000 pounds sterling. That is the asking price on #P1080. That's around $1.6 million US for a Gulf-team spec original with modest race history.
Aren't some of these prices getting just a little wild ? I don't know what some private sales have been but when auctions have been struggling at a third of that amount there seems to be an anomaly - the same seems to apply to 103 too
I had a ride in the Innes Ireland FAV 1965 GT40 at Silverstone the last time the track was used in it's original shape. The owner was after £750,000. This was the car that had the first definative nose. I do not know wheither it was sold for that sum. But I feel that what P1075 would cost into todays prices would dictate the amount lower down the pyrimid. The last sale I attend Coys sold two geniune 40's and they were fetching £300,000 with only modests historys. This was at least three years ago may be much longer.
I had the pleasure of inspecting 1080 and 1115 a few weeks ago as they are local to me.The restoration of 1080 is wonderful...almost too good to use.Modena in Germany did the two and half year job.The original 'Angola' bodywork is with the car.1115 is priced at £195,000.Almost seems a bargain!

Following are photos of the "Angolan bodywork" on #1080. Love those fins! I guess someone figured, if fins worked on a Porsche 917 they would work on a GT40. I wonder if the new owner will re-install them?
