64/88 GT40 reg BOC 163 B (?) Red

This car is advertised in H&H's ad in January 2004 Motorsport for their sale Feb 21 2004 but has now been privately sold - can anyone fill me in on chassis no history etc & why it is advertised as a 64/88 car ?

It sounds more like a license plate number than a chassis

number. It must be an early road going MK1.

The /88 probably means that the car was most recently

restored in 1988.

 

Forgive a'newbie' butting in but just thought i'd put my 2 pence worth in.

The 'B' in the reg is for a 1964 UK registration so it definately looks like a '64 rebuilt/restored in '88 to me.

As a newcomer I think this forum is great.

I've been in love with the idea of building a gt40 for some years and this has finally made up my mind.

All i need to do now is convince the wife.

Looking at the costs involved 'convincing' is going to be cheaper than divorce!

Yes that is the License Plate which is 1964 and it is possible the car was only assembled in 1988 hence my query as to which car this actually is - thanks
