AMERICAN GT NAME AND PHOTOS ARE BEING USED ILLEGALLY

PLEASE READ THIS MESSAGE CONCERNING THE ILLEGAL USE OF THE AMERICAN GT NAME AND PHOTOS

Recently a new website showed up with the name American GT and 3 photos of a GT40. (A silver one, a red one and a yellow one)This company claims to be owned by John Hester. Please be aware that Mr. Hester is ILLEGALLY using the name American GT and the photos. The photos on Mr. Hesters website of the completed cars are from my brochure. The real American GT is a Kansas corporation and has been since 1998. The pictures Mr. Hester is using were copyrighten in 1999 by my company, the real American GT. The GT40s in the photos are owned by me and are in my possession. I know nothing of Mr. Hester and wish him well but he is illegally using my name and my photographs. Mr. Hester in NO WAY had anything to do with the production of the completed cars he has pictured on his website. The photos of the chassis on the website are NOT mine, only the pictures of the completed cars. He has been sent a notice to stop his usage. If anyone has any doubt as to my legitimacy they can call the Kansas Secretary of State or they can email me at [email protected] with their phone number and I will be happy to talk with anyone concerning this. I have the original photos that Mr. Hester is copying and I also have hundreds of photos of the build process of the cars Mr. Hester claims are his. For that matter, please come by and see me and I will give those in doubt a ride.

........and the plot thickens.

We wonder why the kit car industry has such a poor name? Case in point.

I hope this situation resolves itself to both of your satisfaction.

Personally, I think there is more then enough interests in GT40s that there can be several American manufacturers.

And, as a consumer this can't be anything but good

Doug,

I couldn't agree more that more american manufacturers are needed but please be aware that hester is using my company name of american gt and my pictures and saying that they are his. I have been using the American GT name since 1989 and have spent alot of money on advertising the name. Someone can not just come along and steal a company name.

I agree. And, I would be really ticked if someone swiped my stuff and claimed it as my own. Shady business practice, to say the least. I was just saying I hope you two resolve this issue and can move forward. To the benefit of all.

Doug

p.s. I look forward to seeing your product when it becomes available

PROBLEM SOLVED

To all forum members. John Hester and I have resolved the problem with American GT. Both Mr. Hester and I purchased parts from the same engineering firm. When Mr. Hester purchased from this firm he was told that American GT and its pictures were owned by the engineering and that he(Mr. Hester was free to use them). Mr. Hester and I have talked at length about this issue and all is well. I have no issues or problems with Mr. Hester of his project. I wish Mr. Hester the best of luck with his GT40 project.

Chris and John, Good for both of you. It's refreshing to see such a matter settled by the principals themselves outside of the courtroom.

I have an idea. I own GT40USA.COM and would sell the rights very cheaply. What do you think? Would GT40USA.COM be a good name for the other American GT40 maker?

Have fun!

John
