American Transaxles...and cheapskates

Keep in mind, when I made the 850QC,
Richmond only made the street 5 spd... NOW they have good OD gear sets.. SO I would use the Richmond gear sets, The same R&P but Diff Ratio... and DROP the QG gear set.. This will make it short enough to fit in a GT40..24.75" plus bellhousing..
so it you use a ZF bellhousing Total is 29.25" Tilton bellhousing 30.10"
I belive, the size of unit, cost me sales...

The new lay out would keep the CL of the Crank and Drive flanges would remain 1.75".. Block to the CL of drive flanges, about 10.5"..
The big change is in the rear.... much shorter..

Is there a reason you would use a ZF vs just a standard T-5 bellhousing? If I remember I think a t-5 bellhousing is around 6 inches, but this gives you the ability to run standard starter, flywheel and a Ton of aftermarket clutch assemblies. If it would fit it just seems like a cheaper/better option.

The depth of the bell housing sets the block to axle dim.
The Ford to ZF = 4.5" and uses stock Ford parts... 5.5+4.5=10"
The Tilton is 5.35" deep... 5.5+5.35=10.85" uses Tilton Starter
A stock Ford Bell housing = 6.3" to 7" ... IF you have room to push the engine forward,, no problem using a stock of deeper bell housing...
W/ Stock = 5.5+6.3=11.8" almost 2" WOW...
W/ FE.. 5.5+7= 12.5 2.5" pluss a bigger engine...
