Audi 01E gearshift pattern

Hi

Please could anyone confirm if this is how the gearbox works? Or would I need to flip either the forward/back or side/side motions?

Put it into gear.
Rotate the input shaft 1 turn and note the amount of rotation the drive flanges have.

The higher the gear the more the flange will rotate.
Rev will go in the opposite direction.

It will be easier with the lever on the sift shaft.

I had a play around with it last night. To get reverse, you need to push the selector in and move the top forwards. So in the diagram above, need to flip the red movement. The yellow is correct.

It's hard to tell but if your not right your close. Push the shift shaft all the way in and towards the bellhousing is reverse. Now one "click" out is 1-2 with 1 being towards the bellhousing. Towards the bellhousing with the shifter rod at it's resting position is 3rd and back is 4th. Pull the shift rod out and towards the bell housing is 5th and back is 6th.
