Nice pics. Can someone pls confirm the last photo s/n sequence is 1030, 1067, 1065 please. It appears that 1065 has gone through a restoration from the last time it was seen at auction and returned back to its original factory finish.

Anyone with more pictures of the cars, please post.

I had fun at Audrain. Before this, I've only been to one event where there was another original GT40. Being invited to fill out the ranks of a class with five other GT40s made it very attractive to go.

In case you haven't heard, 1030 won Best in Class. 1067 got second place (they didn't tell us which of us won until it was time to get in line). The other GT40s were all very nice and perfectly restored, but it appears that the judge preferred a car that was original but unrestored. 1030 is not one of the 30 Mk I road cars, but it was sold as a road car and has been on the road for all of its life (Of the six cars, 1030 was the only car with a license plate).

Comparing 1030 to the other cars was interesting. All of the cars had wire wheels and Goodyear tires (except 1030, Avon tires are DOT, the Goodyear tires are not). Standing behind the cars, the two obvious differences is that 1030 doesn't have a recess for a UK style license plate. Also, 1030 has two tail lights on each side, not the larger single tail lights. And in between there's a recess in the spider for the tail's release lever. In front, 1030 lacks the F O R D letters on the nose. Also 1030 never had the carpets. The release lever and the tail are features of a competition car.

Congratulations on 1030 winning the show! I am curious about 1065 as it has always been on Halibrands. I guess the owners did a refresh of it and went back to period correct. Pretty amazing lineup of cars for sure. Let's be conservative and say $6M a car or about $40M in just those 6 at the show. Thanks for posting the pics so that we could all enjoy what must have been an amazing day.

I did not know that 1030 was not finished in Slough. What is the backstory on how it got finished. I never realized that any 40 did not leave Slough incomplete. I guess that shows my ignorance.

Hey! Fantastic on winning the class!

The red one also had the dual smaller lamp setup per side. They were all beautiful

I forgot to mention, one interesting difference was the sound of 1067's engine compared to 1030 while we were waiting for the awards. It probably had a more aggressive engine tune.

Great pics Ben, and thanks for sharing. Congrats on the win!! I think it's awesome that something with a plate on it took home the prize.
