Lee, thanks for the note. I really hadn't noticed how lucky my number was. All we need now is vendor recognition by vendors. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Fellows, as far as I know the advertisers will do something for you if you tell them you saw the banner ad on GT40s.com. A couple have fomulated offical positions of what they will do, Five Star Ford and American Custom Lifts, and the others will probably come up with something. I really don't have a way to give you a number nor do they have a way of taking one.

Remember - all of these vendors are small businesses that are good at what they do. Want an engine? Call Keith Craft, you'll speak to either Keith or his wife, and if you tell them you saw the ad on GT40s.com Keith will fix you up. Simple, nice.

Faili, WHAT IN THE HELL is a cobra doing alongside your name!! Put a picture of your 40 up there or I'll come over, burn down your house(both), steal your wife(kidding I can't afford two), drink all your beer(real threat), and overrev your new killer motor(is this why I haven't got a ride yet).

Lets go for a drive down to see Chris. Call me.

Excellent! Then you wouldn't mind if I came out and ran your car in the NASA KC5 class at Seca? Just kidding and thanks for the thanks! It is a pleasure (most times) to moderate and keep the board going correctly.

The advertisers I think are (were) a step in the right direction and add value to the forum in the sense that most have indicated members would receive a discount on goods. I've been trying to choose them carefully and select adverts that are useful to members, not just anyone who will pay the fee. Apparently the rough demographics of "us" make us highly sought after as an audience - I've had many offers from e-drug stores (Viagra), magazines (AARP), investments (life insurance), attorneys (wills), etc. Seriously, we have had a lot of offers from a large variety of companies like those mentioned above but unless they are car related and specific to GT40s we won't have them.

Great!

It sure would be nice to have some advertising on my site(s) but I absolutely loath wearing the salesman hat--I'd MUCH rather continue paying for things myself than even contemplate solicitation.

Re: Policy questions

Five Star Ford is trying pretty hard to get GT40 business. Max, the fellow in parts that has coordinated this effort, went to the Knott's show and enjoyed it there quite a bit. He emailed me this bit to post:

"We will give anyone who is a member of GT-40s a special price on all Ford racing parts and no tax ( if outside AZ ) and free freight on orders over $1800.00 (on the Ford Racing Parts), the ford O/E parts are priced at 25-30% off and ford red box (motorcraft) run about 35-50% off retail...not adjusted retail, MSRP!! Of course there exceptions like shocks and some other odd stuff with no mark-up, but still the best price around. We do not price match but we have the best all around prices and are the number 6 Ford Racing Dealer in the country!!"

Seems like it will be a good deal on Ford Crate Engines and standard Ford parts. Hope you fellows get some use out of it and some savings. I think advertising can work for all of us in this fashion.
