Banner Advertising

Who should I contact concerning advertising on this site? We have a 2005 Ford GT that I would like to market here. I am interestd to know what it costs for the banner at the top of the page. Thanks

Hi Nick,

I can understand your desire to move your GT and might look at this site as the perfect place to do that. But to be honest, I imagine this site attracts a different demographic than your average Ford GT prospective buyer. I think you’ll find the people on this site are serious Ford GT40 (and a small number of GT) enthusiasts that are a cut above the average sports car buyer. Most have the ways and means to purchase cars far more expensive than their GT40s (and some do, kick around here and you'll be amazed and what people own), but instead buy and build GT40s to match their needs, be it track use, street/show use, or a mixture of the three.

Furthermore, I would not accept the money for a banner advertisement to sell a Ford GT here for a couple of reasons.

However, the primary reason I would not accept money for the advertisement is that I tend to have a disdain for the process that is occurring now where Ford dealers are attempting to capitalize on a market phenomenon and cash in on their cars at prices high above MSRP. While I completely understand that market demand will set prices, I feel prices should be dropping (www.fordgtprices.com – don’t believe much of it but there are some good points) as more cars are built and many are now sitting on dealer floors while their dealer waits for a high price buyer. I’m not passing judgment that it is wrong or right, just saying I don’t care for it and as the site administrator don’t have to be part of it. I feel it is a shame that Ford builds the car, provides a MSRP that is very reasonable and one that would put a lot of cars on the road and on race tracks, but it isn’t happening because dealers won’t take MSRP for their car except in rare occasions.

If I have read your intent incorrectly and your dealership is willing to take MSRP for the car, then by all means we can get a banner advertisement up. Also, if your parts department is willing to give www.gt40s.com users a good deal on Ford Racing Parts, then we can work something out that is of mutual benefit to all. I apologize in coming off as harsh on this matter but I vowed months ago when we started banner advertisements to keep it relevant and useful for the membership here. This one sort of falls into a grey area and my personal views on Ford’s GT and dealer actions kicks it into the black.

Best,
Ron

Nice comments, Ron. I might consider a 2005 GT if it was priced at or slightly below MSRP. After all, the 2006 models are almost here, and I'd be more interested in the newer car given a choice.

Nick - I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the following: http://www.fordgtprices.com/

This site gives a pretty neat analysis of the pricing that has occurred with the new Ford GT's since their release. It's also making some forward prediction about the prices too.
