Battery placement

agree
no relays where not needed. Good quality high current switches are available ( defenitely not the 3 USD chinese units and also not the more expensive but even so scrappy Lucas things). Some components are just underestimated in there current draw ( like the radiatior fans) and there i will use relais.

Okay, so I've got the battery and ISIS roughly laid out in the front. Looking good, but I'm wondering 2 things

1 - How close can the battery be to the radiator out heatpipe? I plan on wrapping the pipe there with thermal wrap to try to minimize heat, but it's still going to be a tight fit.......

2 - How do I run my wiring to the back of the car. Do I snake above the top of the heat pipe and follow it backwards? I can't really see any other options.....

Btw, looks like a group 51r battery fits perfectly upfront (same one I'm using in my cobra) - it's what a honda odyssey uses, lol. I'll probably use a 0ga cable though since the starter is in the rear.

Alex,

I may be off base but I can't imagine the heat coming out of the coolant pipe which max is going to be 180 come close to the heat any OEM battery experiences underhood with non ducted rad, headers etc. You may be overthinking this one

I have to agree with Tim. My Mustang battery is only about 6" from the radiator and my turbo down pipe with no proplems at all...

That's a good point - I hadn't considered how hot an OEM car gets.

Still, better to over-think everything now that down the road go 'oh....crap :shout:'
