Brighton - Well Done Rodger!

Ta Da!!!
Congratulations to Club member Rodger Burston - who drove his Mk1 GTD to victory at Brighton last Saturday. Managing all three runs, Practice, T1 and T2 all below 13 seconds.

Dave Parker 'worried' him putting a 12.52 in as a first timed run to Rodger's 12.38, but could'nt catch him and Rodger improved further still to a 12.32 at about 125Mph.

So well done 'Rog' your 'Classic Road and Race' prepared 6.8L (408ci stroked 351) came up trumps - good stuff!

This also gets his name on the prestigous 'Dave Wilson Memorial Cup' for the fastest time set by a GTD40 at Brighton.....

Here Rodger can be seen (inset) adding some additional traction for the timed runs... Chips! - the magic grip provider.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Rodger,

Excellent job, and a beautiful car, really enjoyed seeing it! That Brighton surface must be slick and I would bet that car would be in the 11s on a proper drag strip, for sure. Nice!

With his monster engine he was either going to break something or win, so he choose the latter! The consistancy of those times is very good. Well done Rodger.

Hi Paul,

It was a pleasure to meet you & Roy in person at the weekend.

I managed to get some pictures from the line and a few vids of the cars going off. Drop me a PM and I will send them to you.

Cheers

Sorry about the messy table above, it was an excel spreadsheet and it did not copy across well. It was sourced from the Brighton and Hove club website in case anyone wanted to see the full results.

Thanks Paul, I was pleased with that launch but felt I could do better as I feathered the clutch on that run, not delibrately but I just did it! Final run felt better right up to the moment when I missed a gear! I don't know what was in the white can that Jools gave me to paint onto my tyres but they went quite sticky....

Sorry your weekend was not better but there is always next year....

I think the real surprise of the day could have been Roy Wing until he or Ray bust a driveshaft. Good launch and practice time.

Wendy not pleased that she didn't beat Wycliffe. Hey ho.
